Arsene in his interview believed that Alex Song has made a breaktrough on his performance this season. It is shown by his positive contribution on his last match which he scored the only goal at that night.

Wenger believes that the fine performances shown by Alex Song lately is driven by a tight competition in three available midfielder slots. One slot is believed to be an automatic place for the skipper, Cesc Fabregas whenever he is fit. Thus, it will be two remaining spot to fight for. With the emergence of Jack Wilshere as a regular starter and Nasri's lately fine form, it means that no one will be guaranteed an automatic start on the middle.

Arsene sees the competition will be healthy and urges the players to improve their performance on the pitch. The manager said :

"He sees there is big competition in midfield and that helps, because nobody is guaranteed a place.

"Song has improved his engine. Before he was less mobile, now he does not need a breather when he goes and comes back, that has added something to his quality.

"Since he has more stamina capacity, when we win the ball, he is on the move straight away and, when his timing is good, he arrives at the right moment in the box."

The man himself is not complacent saying that he prefers to concentrate on the team. Song said "

"We know this is a very important season for us which is why everyone gives their best to be happy at the end of the season.

"We just need to give everything to give our best and see what happens in the end."
